The Dix 16 Kayak

Our main project at the moment is this 16 foot sea kayak designed by Dudley Dix.  This extremely light ( 35lb ), durable kayak is available as a completed boat, a kit and also as a course built boat. It is suitable for all paddlers, and especially great for those of us who find lifting a 55lb boat onto a car roof rack to be a problem.

The Dyson Aleut

This kayak was developed by the famous kayaking guru and author George Dyson from a traditional Aleut design. He modifed the design to fit the larger build of Old World paddlers using an innovative aluminum tube and skin construction. Plans and some parts for this method of building are still available from him. With his kind permission we are developing a wooden framed skin on kayak using this design.

The Dyson Aleut

A lot of thought has gone into the construction planning.  Because of that, this kayak can easily be built by those of minimal skill in two to three days with the standard "commonly available household tools." I expect most of the builders will be folk who have never built anything before. Keep visiting the site; we will add details of the new boats as they become available.
